We are looking for the following person to join the Mathematics Institute as soon as possible

research assistant (PostDoc) (m/f/d)

In the project "Fluid dynamic shape optimisation with phase fields and Lipschitz methods" a PostDoc position is advertised.

The position is 100% full-time (currently 39 hours) and is temporary for two years. The position is generally divisible. The temporary employment is based on the regulations of the Act on Temporary Employment Contracts in Academia (WissZeitVG).

 

Your tasks:

The position is part of the research project "Fluid dynamic shape optimisation with phase fields and Lipschitz methods" funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). The aim of the project is to develop novel computer-aided and mathematical tools for mathematical shape and topology optimisation.

What you bring with you:

The prerequisites are:

  • a successfully completed university degree (excluding a Bachelor's degree) and a completed PhD with a strong background in numerical methods for PDEs and nonlinear programming, ideally in applied mathematics, mechanical engineering, computer sciences or computational physics
  • ideally comprehensive knowledge in the field of shape and topology optimisation
  • knowledge of modern scientific programming
  • fluent written and spoken English and the ability to work in an interdisciplinary team
  • very good problem-solving skills, willingness to learn, independent work, experience and willingness to write publications as well as good presentation skills are essential
