The Aquatic Chemical Ecology group at the Institute of Zoology at the University of Cologne is one of the leading groups in its field and offers excellent research facilities and an open collaborative atmosphere in an interdisciplinary team. Research ranges from infochemical-related research to food quality interactions of primary producers and herbivores, namely Daphnia (https://zoologie.uni-koeln.de/index.php?id=15920).
YOUR TASKS
Teaching at Bachelor‘s and Master‘s level in the form of lectures and practical courses in the scope of 4 semester hours
Active participation in the group‘s research projects with your own projects, complementing the existing expertise
Development of a coherent concept for the integration of own research topics into the group
YOUR PROFILE
Completed or about to complete a doctorate in a bioscientific subject
Research on aquatic invertebrates, in particular the genus Daphnia, as model organisms are preferred due to the existing infrastructure
Experience with HPLC, LC-MS, GC or GC-MS is an adavtage
A strong interest and preferably background in chemical ecology
Very googd English skills, both written and spoken, and basic Germanskills or willingness to leran the German language
Experience in publishing in peer-reviewed journals and good communication skills

The position is available from 1 January 2025 on a full-time basis (39,83 hours per week). The position is to be filled for a fixed term of up to 3 years. If the applicant meets the relevant wage requirements and personal qualifications, the salary is based on remuneration group 13 TV-L of the pay scale for the German public sector.
