Professorship for ‘Englishes in Context’ | English Seminar I

The professorship for English Linguistics with a focus on ‘Englishes in Context’ (Professor Dr Axel Bohmann) covers variation and language use in contemporary English in its global diversity.
YOUR TASKS
Independent as well as colloborative research, including data collection, management, and analysis as well as writing academic publications
Teaching in the department‘s Bachelor‘s and Master‘s degree programmes (2 courses per semester)
Student advising in examination matters
Participation in academic self-administration
YOUR PROFILE
Degree (M.A. or equivalent) in English, Linguistics or a closely related discipline
Excellent English language skills
A doctoral or postdoctoral project related to at least one of the following areas: variation studies, corpus linguistics, discourse analysis, language and globalization
Social skills, ability to work in a team as well as independently

The position is available immediately on a full-time basis (39,83 hours per week). It is limited for a fixed term until 31 March 2028, with the possibility of an extension. If the applicant meets the relevant wage requirements and personal qualifications, the salary will be based on remuneration group 13 TV-L of the pay scale for the German public sector.
