Professorship in genetics and molecular cell biology (W3) (f/m/d)
The University of Cologne is one of the oldest and largest universities in Germany. The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences comprises six departments with about 180 professors and 9,000 students and is one of the largest faculties in the country.
YOUR TASKS
We are seeking an internationally renowned candidate with proven expertise in functional genetics, molecular cell biology, and/or systems biology. Your research is highly collaborative and complements and strengthens the existing life science research programs in Cologne, in particular the Cologne Cluster of Excellence “Cellular Stress Responses in Aging-Associated Diseases” (CECAD), and the local collaborative research centers (SFBs). In addition, the successful candidate is expected to contribute to teaching in the Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, Bachelor of Arts, and/or Master of Education study programs offered by the Department of Biology. The successful candidate will contribute to an inclusive, welcoming environment that promotes diversity at all levels.
YOUR PROFILE
You are an internationally recognized researcher with a proven track record in genetics, molecular cell biology, and/or systems biology. Your research program fits to the established research directions of the Institute for Genetics. You are experienced in the acquisition of the third-party funding and supervision of young academics. A strong commitment to teaching, including a comprehensive teaching concept, is expected. Teaching experience on topics related to genetics, molecular cell biology and/or systems biology, ideally with teaching evaluations, is an advantage.
Qualification requirements are in accord with the North Rhine-Westphalia University Law and include an excellent track record in research and teaching.

The position is available at the earliest possible date. Formal requirements are detailed in Section 36 of the Higher Education Act of North Rhine-Westphalia (Hochschulgesetz – HG NRW). As a rule, the teaching load comprises nine semester hours per week (i.e., two hours per week is one 90-minute course per semester).
